Rathsallagh and Punchestown are synonymous with one another rather like a fine port and Stilton . Every year from the late 1800’s there have been House parties at Rathsallagh for Punchestown, and since 1978 the O’Flynn family of Rathsallagh have continued that tradition.

The route itself is so easy as you travel from Rathsallagh on the R412 to Dunlavin, through the village onto the R413 and at Brannockstown turn right into the village of Ballymore Eustace and on out the R411 coming to Punchestown cross. And as you are approaching Punchestown from the south you are beating all the traffic from Naas, Kildare and Dublin as well. Rathsallagh is delighted to announce that the Rathsallagh Punchestown Bus will be running Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. It will depart Rathsallagh at 1.40pm arriving at the track an hour and a half before the first. And of course Rathsallagh will have stocked the bus with plenty of refreshments and yummy nibbles.
The VIP bus is equipped with leather reclining seats, tables, air conditioning, fridge , WC etc. Punchestown has kindly arranged for the coach to have its own dedicated parking in Owners and Trainers right alongside the main complex so it will be an ideal picnic and refreshment base for Rathsallagh guests and their friends. Tuesday25th April 2017 : BoyleSports Champion Chase Day
The opening day is a feast for racing fans with three Grade 1 races including the feature BoyleSports Champion Chase. In addition there are two other Grade 1's, The Herald Champion Novice Hurdle over 2 miles and the Growise Novice Chase over 3 miles. There are 7 races this day. Wednesday26th April 2017 : Punchestown Gold Cup Day
The highlight of the chase calendar with the Grade 1 Punchestown Gold Cup. This day also features the hotly contested Attheraces.com Irish Champion Bumper,The Grade 1 Irish Daily Mirror Novice Hurdle over 3 miles and the Weatherbys GSB EBF Mares Flat Race (Listed Race). Thursday 27th April 2017 : The Ladbrokes Champion Stayers Hurdle Day

Friday 28th April 2017 : The BETDAQ Champion Hurdle day
The jewel in the crown of the Festival. A favourite with race goers, locals and socialisers alike. This day gets the largest crowds and has a real party atmosphere. Saturday 29th April 2017 : The AES Festival Family Day
Since its introduction as a Festival day the Saturday has become the second biggest day of the entire event festival. The focus is on youth with the Champion 4 year old hurdle being the feature race. The Junior Jockey Fun Club is also available that day with pony rides, face painting, bouncy castles and so much more. A favourite with groups, locals and families. First race 2.30 last race 6.45pm.
